Batman (Rebirth) Volume 1: I Am Gotham by Tom King

The first Batman volume of Rebirth sets the stage for what is to come. First of all, we have the origin story of Gotham Girl and what happened to her brother, Gotham. Secondly, throughout there are mysterious mentions of "Monster Men" whose story is fully told in "Night of the Monster Men", which I've already read. The book is more about Gotham City than any one person and Batman philosophises on why he stays in a city like Gotham. A good story and opening chapter in a new run on Batman. Since I've already read volume 2 and Monster Men it has filled in a lot of holes for me but is a great starting point for others. The art is gorgeous!
