The Country Nurse (Essex County #3) by Jeff Lemire
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a poignant, heavy, moody (perhaps depressing) end to the trilogy. The country nurse could be called the "county" nurse and she ties the whole story together by finally showing us the relationship between everyone we've met. Added to this is Annie's story herself. I enjoyed this trilogy and this book in particular even though it lays heavy upon me, it brings a positive message. The loneliness, the heartache, the sadness along with family splits and division all have the birth of children at their heart and in the end those children are also the key to happiness, second chances and the future living on. No matter what the circumstances, children can always be a blessing.
